ANDREJ VIŠTICA
Professional triathlete and coach
My story
I don’t like to wear suits but I put one on that day. It was a momentous day for me, my first job interview. Having recently graduated from the Faculty of Electric Engineering, I was eager to embark on a professional career. The interview went exceptionally well, and I was thrilled to receive two job offers. One included a lot of traveling and with it a higher chance to improve so it felt like a no-brainer.
However, as I lay awake that night, something felt off. Two years prior, I had taken up triathlon as a hobby and had made significant progress. Although a career in the sport seemed like an unrealistic dream, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I needed to pursue it further. Why can’t I at least try? The next morning, after a sleepless night, I called the company and accepted the other job offer, which would allow me more time for training.
That decision marked a turning point in my life. I embraced my passion for triathlon and dedicated myself to achieving excellence in the sport.
